Special Ops Survivors Annual Golf Tournament Set for Sept. 11 at Del Mar Country Club in Rancho Santa Fe

Perfectly timed to honor Sept. 11, Special Ops Survivors, a nonprofit organization, will present its annual charity golf tournament. Funds raised will go to help provide support services for surviving spouses of Special Operations military personnel. SAN DIEGO (Aug. 24, 2015)  Special Ops Survivors—a nonprofit organization exclusively dedicated to serving surviving spouses of active duty Special Operations personnel who have died in combat or training since January 1, 1980—is pleased to announce their annual charity golf tournament will take place on Friday, Sept. 11 at the Del Mar Country Club in Rancho Santa Fe, Calif. Special Ops Survivors is encouraging all golfers to mark Sept.11 in a meaningful way this year. Together with fellow golfers, they will raise funds to help support surviving military spouses of Special Operations military personnel. The charity event is also open to additional sponsors. Registration will begin at 10 a.m. with the tournament kicking off at noon. Golfers can play individually for $300 or as a foursome for $1,000. Breakfast will be provided to the golfers along with a box lunch to take on the course. A cocktail reception and awards ceremony will follow at 5:30 p.m. During the reception, speakers will include:
  • Mary Ellen Bancroft, surviving spouse of Marine Capt. Matthew Bancroft who died Jan. 9, 2002 while serving during Operation Enduring Freedom;
  • John Baca, a former U.S. Army soldier and Vietnam War veteran. He was awarded the Medal of Honor, the highest decoration of the United States Armed Forces, for his actions in combat.
“This is a very special event for our organization,” says Elizabeth Brown, executive director of Special Ops Survivors. “We will honor the day and pay a special tribute to those who have given the ultimate sacrifice and to their surviving spouses.
